Project description
Westminster Building Company were contracted to replace the existing oil fired heating and hot water installation at NCN Basford Hall College. (Basford College Nottingham)
The original oil fired boilers and hot water plant were circa 40 years old and at the end of their useful life. The new boilers and hot water plant will save an estimated 192,000kg CO2 per annum or 30% of the current emissions.
Based on historical data collated for fuel oil consumption, the introduction of gas as the primary fuel for heating and hot water and the improved plant efficiencies will save an estimated £56,000 per annum on fuel costs alone. This equates to a simple payback period of 9-10 years for the new boiler installation. To compliment the boiler and HWS plant, a new building management system has been provided to manage the operation of the plant and this is provided with remote access for the college to monitor and manage energy consumption.
